Some browning to preliminary leaves, a fine copy in original red cloth, with very good dust jacket (this clipped and mildly chipped at spine). Luke served with the US 27th Aero Squadron. Noted for downing enemy balloons, and for his insubordination. In co-operation with his friend Lt. Wehner, he managed to down a disputed number of balloons. On his last flight, which ended in his death, he destroyed three. Luke Air Force Base in the State of Arizona in the USA was named after the flyer. Item #53
