This bibliography of the literature of diving and underwater technology recounts the development of diving apparatus from the early fifteenth century up to 1830. Each volume is divided in two parts. The first volume focuses on the early years between 1405 to 1660 leading to the beginning of scientific diving from 1661 to 1700. The volume provides a thorough insight on the evolution of diving throughout the eighteenth century until the age of the diving bell (1791 to 1823) and the development of new materials (1823 to 1830).
