Prolific Australian author and aviation writer Stewart Wilson created his epic series of 13 aircraft books between 1988 and 1994. In this volume, Wilson examines Dakota, Hercules and Caribou aircraft. The Douglas DC-3/C-47 is arguably the most important transport aircraft ever built, with roles in both civil and military aviation. Displaying remarkable longevity, the Royal Australian Air Force has used the Dakota continuously since 1939. The Lockheed C-130 Hercules, perhaps a more contemporary version of the Dakota, is known for its versatility in both tactitical and strategic transport duties. The de Havilland Caribou STOL tactical transport has supplemented the Hercules, and was able to operate close to the front line during the Vietnam War. Item #5061
