Coalport Collector's Plate Set by Michael Turner
Shropshire, UK: Coalport, sponsored by The RAF Benevolent Fund, 1990-91. Set of five illustrated traditional English bone china plates, each 21 cm (8 1/4 inches) in diameter. The set is comprised of five plates from the Reach for the Sky series: No.s 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7. Date, title, number and further details are printed on the back of each plate. All plates come with a certificate of authenticity and a six-page fold-out booklet of information about the illustration. Three of the certificates of authenticity have a tiny amount of foxing, otherwise a very fine set in original packaging boxes. First edition.
A beautifully illustrated collection of five plates from Coalport's Reach for the Sky Series, released to mark the fiftieth anniversary of the Battle of Britain. The plates feature paintings by well-known and respected English aviation artist Michael Turner. The images are as follows: No. 3 'Flight through the Clouds' depicts two Hawker Hurricanes in flight; No. 4, 'Out on Exercise' depicts two Mark BIV Mosquitos; No. 5, 'Above the Estuary' depicts two Wellington Mark IIIs from RAF 300 Squadron; No. 6, 'Take-off' depicts two Hawker Typhoons Mark IBs and No. 7, 'Coastal Mission' depicts two Bristol Beaufighters.
