Quarto, embossed faux leather illustrated printed hardcovers, spine and cover embossed with silver lettering, illustrated front endpapers. Eight of the volumes are 176 pp., one is 180 pp., total of 1,588 pp. Illustrated throughout with colour and black-and-white photographs, logos, stamps, diagrams, illustrations and documents. Each volume is covered in plastic, all have some foxing on top edge text block. Seven of the volumes have tape marks on the endpapers. Each volume has a small handwritten date of receipt on the top-right corner inside the back cover. Overall, the volumes are in very good condition. First edition. A set of nine handsome and informative volumes from Time-Life's 23-volume series Epic of Flight. This fully illustrated series covers the history of flight, from the early pioneers to the development of the zeppelin to flight during the World Wars, women aviators, airline builders and much more. Five of the volumes include an engaging and enthusiastic "Memo to the Reader" from the series editor detailing the research that went into the volume. Item #4941
