An enthralling first-hand account by civilian aviator Hugh Bergel of the work he and others did during World War Two as Ferry Pilots. During that time, skilled amateur pilots were given the opportunity to fly and delivery all the Royal Air Force's aircraft as part of the Air Transport Auxiliary. Bergel writes of his four and half years with the ATA delivering over 900 aircraft of 80 different types to the RAF, showing that in times of need, an willing amateur can take on an expert's job and do it exceptionally well.
