London: Flight Publishing, 1944. Octavo, original dark-blue cloth, spine embossed with guilt lettering, cover blind embossed with title and author, 122 pp. Illustrated with black-and-white photographs and detailed diagrams and drawings throughout. Spine ends and corners bumped and slightly rubbed, light foxing on front endpapers, right-hand side of front cover has a very small dent made by a pin or nail with similar dents in the same location on the first few leaves without loss of text; otherwise a very good copy with remarkably clean leaves for a publication from this period. Third edition. In the 1940s, G. Geoffrey Smith, M.B.E., was Managing Editor of Flight and Aircraft Production. Here he includes several articles on jet propulsion from those publications, and expands on them to offer detailed descriptions and studies of different kinds of engines, turbines and aircraft propulsion by jet reaction being developed during World War Two.
