Quarto, original mid-blue cloth, spine embossed with gilt lettering, front cover blind embossed with eagle motif, 206 pp. Spine ends and corners rubbed, gilt on spine faded, small tear where front cover meets spine at lower left, cover worn with small localised marks, brown marks along top edge of back cover, spotting on edges of text block, foxing on endpapers and on some leaves throughout, inside edges of covers are lightly scraped, a copy of the text on the inside front flap of dust-jacket is pasted on the front free endpaper, a pale purple stamp reading "Popular Reading Item Fee" is on the front free endpaper, small "J. McKay Book Dealers Hobart" stamp on lower inside corner of front cover, browning on edges and spine of dust-jacket; otherwise a good copy with a very good dust-jacket. In 1922, T. Lawrence enlisted in the ranks of the Royal Air Force under the name of John Hume Ross. 'The Mint' is a private notebook of his thoughts and reflections at the time, and was never intended for publication. This is the first British trade edition of the book. O'Brien A173. Item #4881
An small unreadable signature in blue ink is written on the inside of the front cover with a date: 3. XI. 1959. Title page has "MC." written in blue ink under the author's name with a date stamp reading "31 MAR 1955"
