First edition. The Sopwith Camel was the most deadly aeroplane fielded by Britain and her allies during World War One. From the time of their first delivery in the early summer of 1917 until the Armistice on November 11, 1918, Camels destroyed 1,294 enemy aircraft, and by the cessation of hostilities, 2,582 Camels were in service.
