Spine ends a little bumped, foxing on tail edges of covers, dust-jacket very slightly worn at top and tail edges; otherwise a very good copy. First edition. The story of Airspeed Limited, the English aeronautical engineering company established in 1931 that produced, among other aircraft, the Oxford twin-engined trainer and the Horsa military glider, both utilised in World War Two. Founded by Nevil Shute Norway (later known as Nevil Shute, the author) and Hessel Tiltman, Airspeed is also credited with the introduction of retractable undercarriage to aircraft thanks to Nevil Shute's innovative design work.
