A detailed account of the wartime experiences of American World War One Fighter Ace Lawrence "Larry" Callahan. Larry Callahan was one of the three central characters described in War Birds: Diary of an Unknown Aviator written by his friend and colleague John McGavock Grider, who perished during a daring two-man patrol over enemy lines in 1918. This extensively researched volume by historian Marvin Skelton sheds light on the integral roles Callahan played in both World Wars, and describes the unique training Callahan and his American compatriots received in Oxford from the British Flying Corps during World War One.
