An account of the history and rise of Cathay Pacific Airways written by a long-serving pilot of the airline's formative years. Charles "Chic" Eather, who served as a Gunner in the 1st Australian Anti-Aircraft Regiment during World War Two, relates the Cathay Pacific story through the voices of the devoted and hard-working people, pilots and ground staff that made Cathay Pacific the airline that it is today. He also relates many of his own experiences during his time with the company, including the world's first skyjacking and the shooting down of one of the company's airliners over Hainan Island by communist fighters.
