First edition. An autobiographical account of Air Commodore Raymond James Brownell's life and military career. Brownell first served Australia during World War One in Gallipoli, France and Belgium as a member of the 9th Battery, Australian Field Artillery. In 1921 he became a Flying Officer in the newly formed Royal Australian Air Force. During World War Two, he commanded units stationed at Western Australia, Malaya and Moratai, then retired from the RAAF in 1947. This very personal story covers his experiences, in the air and on the ground, through both World Wars. Item #4659
