Frank Korbl, born in Austria, recounts his experiences as an wireless operator and rear-gunner in the German Air Force during World War Two, as well as his post-war career. At the end of the war, Korbl worked with the British NAAFI in Germany and Austria, then migrated to Australia in 1956, where he joined the Royal Australian Air Force. He served with the RAAF for many years, including in Vietnam, and was awarded an MBE in 1977. Korbl's unusual life story won the 2001 RAAF Heritage Award. Item #4646
