Australians at War in the Air 1939 - 1945Volumes One and Two
Australia: Kangaroo Press, 1995. Quarto, two-volume set, illustrated printed wrappers, Volume One: 140 pp., Volume Two: 158 pp., frontispiece, illustrated throughout with black-and-white photographs, some maps and documents included. Very light spotting on top edge of each volume's text block, otherwise a fine copy of this set. In Volume One, former wireless operator/air gunner Ross Pearson covers the air war over Europe during the Second World War, 1939-1945. In Volume Two, Pearson uses first-hand accounts to retell World War Two stories of war over sea, desert and jungle. This two-volume collection is both a richly detailed historical document and an immediate and personal story of "ordinary blokes" caught up in truly extraordinary circumstances. Item #4558
