East Hills, Australia: Privately printed, 1985. Quarto, grass-green hardcover, spine and cover embossed with gilt lettering, [xxii], 378 pp., illustrated with black and white photographs throughout, some black-and-white maps and sketches included. Spine ends slightly bumped, some discolouration on spine and top edge of dust-jacket, otherwise a very good copy. First edition. An account of the Australian servicemen of Battalion 2/20 who were held as prisoners of war by Japan during World War Two. This volume coves the time of their enlistment to the fall of Singapore and from 1942 to 1945, when the men were captured and dispersed throughout Asia to do the bidding of the Japanese. The men suffered greatly, and many did not return home. While researching this book, Don Wall interviewed a number of the survivors, with some of them telling the story of their POW experiences for the first time. Item #4524
