An account by Royal Australian Air Force Squadron Leader John Bennett of the events that took place in Singapore on the 7th December, 1941. On that night, the Japanese forces began the Pacific War. Bennett tells of the frustration that No. 453 Squadron experienced at being denied permission to engage the enemy, even though the Squadron were ready to intercept the raiders. Instead, they were forced to look on in horror and dismay as enemy bombers emerged over Singapore.
