This is the story of the last trans-Tasman air-mail flight, from New Zealand to Australia, of the Southern Cross, prior to the establishment of a permanent service. Piloted by the author, Charles Kingsford-Smith and and John Stannage, the flight was taken in May of 1935 to coincide with and commemorate the 25th anniversary of the reign of King George V.
