An account of the Royal Australian Air Force's Catalina squadrons and their experiences during World War Two through to 1958. Catalina's, although vulnerable aircraft, had the ability to fly for long periods and were able to carry out a variety of tasks, including reconnaissance and convoy patrols, night bombing raids and minelaying. Their success rate in laying mines in the region then known as the Netherlands East Indies greatly hampered Japanese activity. Vincent covers these and many more of the Catalina Squadrons' activities, and introduces us to the airmen and ground staff who worked with these versatile machines. Item #4463
