A detailed chronological history of the development of camouflage and markings of Luftwaffe aircraft from the inception of Hitler's clandestine air force in 1935 until the close of hostilities in 1945. The first of three volumes on the subject written by Luftwaffe expert Ken Merrick, this series is the culmination of ten years of extensive research, including a three-year research trip to the UK and Europe to examine various government archives concerning wartime operations by the Luftwaffe, the Royal Air Force and the Royal Australian Air Force.

Merrick's own diagrams of aircraft are accompanied by numerous detailed paintings by artist Geoffrey Pentland, each presented in full colour. Item #4460
