Octavo, original dark blue cloth, embossed with gilt lettering, 222 pp. Foxing on endpapers, very light foxing throughout, spotting on text-block edges, lower inside corner of front cover has a small sticker (circa 1956) from Swain's bookshop in Sydney, dust-jacket worn and torn; otherwise a good copy. Second printing of first edition. A fictionalised memoir by R.A.F bomber navigator Don Charlwood. Based on his and his crew's own experiences during World War Two, Charlwood captures in moving detail their arduous and life-threatening tour of operations, including the death, injury and capture of a substantial number of his men over the course of 30 missions.
