First edition. A history of NACA and NASA aircraft spanning three quarters of a century written by aviation historian Arthur Pearcy. Following World War One, the USA established the National Advisory Committee of Aeronautics (NACA) in 1915 to address the nation's lack of aeronautical research. NACA went on to pioneer aircraft research and design for four decades. In 1958, prompted by Russia's launches Sputnik I and II, NACA transformed into the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA). Pearcy covers not only the history and aircraft details of NACA and NASA, but also the stories of the people who worked together to transform aviation in the USA. Item #4441
