First edition. An account by the author of his many experiences in the air during his 37-year career in the Royal Australian Air Force, including seeing action in World War Two. Sir Hancock shares his lifelong passion for flying, beginning with his transfer from the army to the R.A.A.F. in 1928. This career change from soldier to pilot eventually saw him be promoted to Chief of Air Staff in 1961 and knighted with the award KBE in 1962. This engaging memoir concludes in 1965, the year of Sir Hancock's retirement. Item #4418
