Phoenix Telephones Catalogue of "phoenettes", domestic and intercommunication telephones, light signalling systems, electric bells, wires, cables & accessories
London: Phoenix Electric Works, 1938. Quarto, original printed wrappers; 112 pp., illustrated throughout. Very well preserved. The first section of the catalogue describes and illustrates an array of telephone units, comprising 18 pages and 30 different models. Of special interest are the domestic telephones, reflecting the burgeoning market for such products during the thirties. Other models include the long distance magneto telephone, battery operated units, the tradesman's telephone (a rugged unit designed to 'preclude the possibility of mischievous interference').
Curiously, the catalogue includes a portable telephone, housed in a carry case with strap, with generator, induction coil and batteries included. Furthermore, two complete telephone switchboards were manufactured by the Phoenix Electric Works – both are included in the catalogue. Sundry products include receivers, junction boxes, jacks and cabling, annunciators, and the like.
The second section of the catalogue lists other modern electrical products offered by the company; including electric bells, buzzers, indicators, relays, bell pushes and associated apparatus.
The third and final section comprises circuit diagrams for the use of electricians when wiring in telephones. This is the third edition of the catalogue, for January 1938. Item #4304
