Fraser & Chalmers Materials Handling Plant General Electric Company Bulletin No. 18

London: General Electric Company, 1924. Quarto, original printed wrappers; 48 pp., photo plates throughout. A fine copy. A fascinating mining machinery trade catalogue. Dated 1924, the catalogue was jointly issued by the Fraser & Chalmers engineering firm of Chicago, in association with the General Electric Company (then registered in London). It describes and illustrates advanced machinery for loading and handling of coal and mineral ores, with a special emphasis on large crane and hoist machinery for unloading maritime vessels at the docks.

The Fraser and Chalmers ship unloading transporter aided expansion of the Australian minerals export industry between the wars. It allowed for rapid and efficient movement of coal, iron ore, bauxite and other minerals for export purposes. This new waterside crane and platform technology is fully described and illustrated in this catalogue.

Other products include coal breakers, crushers and screens. For transport across various contexts are conveyor belts (18 pages), gravity bucket conveyors and locomotive coaling plants. Item #4295

Price (AUD): $175.00
