Cleveland, Ohio: R. C. Barnum Co., 1919. Single leaf extracted from The People's War Book, measuring 176 x 257 mm., bearing the signature of William Bishop in ink. Slight chipped at one corner, but well preserved. William A. 'Billy' Bishop (1894-1956), the great Canadian air ace was credited with destroying more German planes than any other Allied pilot, became one of the legendary figures of the First World War.
The caption below his signature reads as follows:
'Colonel Bishop is known as the world's Ace of Ace's. He is officially credited with bringing down 72 enemy planes, which is the highest official record. Unofficially his record is over 100 planes. The above genuine autograph by Colonel Bishop is intended as a souvenir of the Great War to be treasured for years to come.
