John Lewin's Prodromus Entomology is a great rarity of Australian natural history books. First published in 1805, the first edition is now unobtainable. A second edition was issued in 1822, and this facsimile reproduces the title pages of both the first and second editions. The Prodromus Entomology is the first natural history book illustrated with plates produced in Australia from original observation. Additionally, the coloured plates include 14 insect species first depicted and described by Lewin. Item #4125
