This is the story of the 'Nomonhan Incident' that saw more than 900 Soviet and 450 Japanese aircraft battle each other for four months in 1939 in a desolate area in Mongolia. The Japanese pilots flying Ki-27 Nate fighters clashed with Soviet I-15, I-153 biplanes and I-16 monoplanes, including TB-3 heavy bombers and the Ki-21 Sally which made its debut.
