The author was invited by the Institution of Royal Engineers to write a historical account of the air activities of the Corps when it was responsible for military aeronautics prior to the formation of the Royal Flying Corps in 1912. The book is an account of the early days of military flying and covers the period of 1878 to 1912. It deals with balloons, airships, and the infancy of flying machines. Item #391
