The W.A.A.A.F Book
Sydney: Hale & Iremonger, 1984. Quarto, black cloth, 288 pp., profusely illustrated with photographs. Mild foxing, otherwise a very good copy. The WAAAF Book shows the sex discrimination of WWII in rates of pay and allowances, and in the hostility of some male officers to women holding status. It also shows the wonderful sense of freedom and achievement, and the comradeship that the WAAAF's experienced. From the contributions, from all over Australia, the editors have made a representative selection which gives an overall picture of the service and its significant impression on the lives of the women who participated.
