History of the 2nd Battalion (Black Watch) Highlanders, stationed in India since the Boer War and sent to France in 1914. From January 1916 the Black Watch were deployed in Mesopotamia. This account, penned anonymously by Captain Blampied, contains two chapters by Colonel Wauchope, the commanding officer. An appendix of casualties across the ranks shows the disturbing prevalence of death by disease, especially septicaemia. Item #3429
