Small quarto, printed wrappers illustrated with squadron emblem and logos in colour, front endpaper illustrated with a map of the South Pacific area, frontispiece, xviii, 268 pp., illustrated in black and white with photographs, drawings, and caricatures. Top-edge front wrapper scratched, small localised stains on wrappers, otherwise a good copy. First edition. A scarce publication. A detailed history of the 22nd Bomb Group whose operations in the early years of World War Two took place in the Southwest Pacific area. The 22nd Bomb Group flew Martin B-26 Marauders and the B-25 Mitchells until 1943. As they moved north to Papua, New Guinea and to Nadzab, they changed aircraft and manned the B-24 Liberators becoming the Red Raiders. Item #3361
