Halfway to Heaven Skywriting, Gliding, Stunting
Sydney: Angus and Robertson, 1960. Octavo, blue cloth, (iix), 240 pp., eight double-sided illustrated plates. Rubbed spine ends, a few stains on dust jacket, foxing throughout, dust jacket slightly torn, otherwise a good copy. First edition. Halfway to Heaven is a tribute to the vocation Fred Hoinville loved and to other men who, like himself, have set out to explore the "new ocean of the air." Not long after this book was finished gliding caused Hoinville's death, but he had thought about and accepted this possibility, and it is his adventures and happy philosophy of life that permeates his autobiography.
