Air Board Technical Notes

[London]: issued by the Controller, Technical Department, Royal Air Force, no date, but circa 1916. Original lettered card bidner measuring 145 x 195 mm., variously paginated inserted parts held with metal fasteners (see description below for a fuller collation of the contents). Wrappers fraying, internally very well preserved. A wonderful relic of the Royal Flying corps in the First World War, being a collection of mechanical guides for six fighting planes of the era. Presumably there is some variation possible with these technical notes, as the separately paginated parts are assembled within the binders with metal fastening pins. Not all pilots and mechanics may have had the set of papers offered here, so a fuller collation is prudent. All parts are generously illustrated with photo images of the engine block and parts, and sundry other diagrams as required.

The respective parts are as follows:

1) "Engine Notes", being a general summary of mechanical principles and practices, including two folding tabular leaves for a total of 14 pages.

2) 90 Horsepower R.A.F. 1a.

3) 120 Horsepower Beardmore, 19 pages.

4) 80 Horsepower Gnome, 17 pages.

5) 100 Horsepower Monosoupape, 15 pages.

6) 80 Horsepower Le Rhone, 16 pages.

7) 110 Horsepower Clerget, 18 pages. Item #3013

Price (AUD): $250.00
