The author enlisted in the British Army in 1914 and transferred to the Royal Flying Corps in the spring of 1917. After service with a training squadron he was posted to the 22 Squadron from Bristol. He then served in France and later commanded No. 88 Squadron of the 80th Wing (from September 1918 to the conclusion of the War). Item #2808
