Sky Fighters of France A French Official Exhibition of Paintings of Battles in the Air
Chicago: The Art Institution, circa 1920s. Quarto, printed wrappers, 20 pp., frontispiece, eight plates in black and white. Front wrapper detached, wrappers thumbed and worn, otherwise a very good copy. A collection of paintings sketched by Lieutenant Henri Farré who was an Observer-Bombardier for the Premier Groupe d'Escadrille de Bombardement during the Great War and was awareded the Croix de Guerre. His paintings were exhibited in several American metropolises in the United States including Chicago and New York. Farré's paintings portrayed the fighting front and of battles in the air witnessed by the pilot and artist himself. Item #2728
