Accompanying his parents wherever they journeyed, he experienced living in Eastern Europe and Asia and did unheard-of things in various horseless carriages "farthest north" loop arount the Baltic; tours of the Balkans, roads or no roads; into India for the Coronation Durbar of 1911; into Ceylon, Malaya, Burma, Java, Sumatra.
