A captivating biography of Eddie Rickenbacker, an American fighter ace in the Great War. Hans Christian Adamson was a close friend of Eddie Rickenbacker. Through this medium, Adamson brings forth a fascinating look at Rickenbacker's life from his early years in Columbus, Ohio to becoming the leading American Ace of World War I. Eddie Rickenbacker enlisted in the U.S. army in 1917 and was sent to France in June of the same year. In late April 1918, he shot down his first enemy aircraft and, by the end of the war, Rickenbacker had claimed 26 victories. He obtained the position of commander of the 'Hat-In-The-Ring' squadron. He returned to service during the Second World War where he was sent on missions across America but also to Russia. Item #2658
