Wesley D. Archer was an American born from Canadian parents. He served in the Royal Flying Corps as well as in the Royal Air Force. He was shot down on October 9th, 1918 by ground fire while strafing German infantry in his SE5. As luck would have it, the bullet was deflected and though he was hit in the chest, he survived. He convalesced in Britain before returning to the Unites States in 1920. Item #2651
