Item #2446 The K.O.S.B. in the Great War. Captain Stair GILLON.

The K.O.S.B. in the Great War

London: Thomas Nelson and Sons, 1930. Octavo, black boards with gold spine lettering and small gold coat of arms 'King's Own Scottish Borderers' on front board, xiv, 488 pp., frontispiece, ten plates, six folded colour maps in rear sleeve. Boards a little bumped at extremities, contemporary ownership inscription, otherwise an attractive and bright copy. The dust-jacket is a bit rubbed and stained. An unusually attractive copy of a desirable regimental history, being the exploits of the Scottish Borderers in the First World War. Much of the book concerns the big campaigns in France and Flanders, including Arras, the Somme, Ypres, Lys, Cambrai, and so forth. Significantly, the first battalion of the Borderers also served at Gallipoli, and two chapters of this book detail Gallipoli and the Middle East. The suite of folding colour maps reflect this, with separate maps for the Palestine campaign and the Gallipoli peninsula. Item #2446
