McCudden V.C. With a foreword by Air Vice Marshall 'Johnnie' Johnson C.B., C.B.E., D.S.O., D.F.C.
London: William Kimber, 1967. Small quarto, hardcover, 224 pp, plates. A near-fine copy with the dust-jacket. James McCudden was the only leading pilot of the First World War who was concerned with aviation from the beginning of the conflict until almost the end - from air mechanic in 1914 to flight commander with a victory score of over fifty by 1918. The book therefore covers the development of air combat from the earliest days, when the crews fought with rifles, through the 'Fokker scourge' of 1915-16 to the dog fighting of 1917-18. Item #1402
